2020年4月8日零时起，武汉解除离汉离鄂通道管控措施，被冰封长达70多天的的武汉正式重启。而在这段艰难的日子里，有许多与武汉人民共进退的外国人，也一起见证了这段载入史册的历程。

During the COVID-19 pandemic

我是约翰·佩德罗萨，来自葡萄牙。

自1984年大学毕业，作为产品工程师开启了我的职业生涯后，一直到现在我都从事于电池行业领域。

2018年，我有幸加入荷贝克，并于2019年初从荷贝克德国总部来到集团重要基地之一的中国武汉，担任技术总监。

这是我第一次来到中国武汉，但我立刻就喜欢上了这个城市，这里的人们十分友好，美食也无处不在。

Hello Everybody!

Greetings from Wuhan!

My name is João Pedrosa and I am from Portugal.

Battery industry was and is my work life.

I had started working in 1984, just after finished the university, as product engineer on the fascinating battery world.

In 2018, I joined to Hoppecke. After being in our headquarters for some months in Germany, in beginning of 2019 I came to Wuhan with the role of Technical Director.

It was the first time that I travelled to China, but I liked immediately the town, its fantastic people and its tasty food.

众所周知，2020年1月23日，武汉封城。

不日，我国大使馆与我取得了联系，会组织包机将在汉葡萄牙国民送回国。2月2日，包机顺利抵达葡萄牙，但我没有和我的同胞们一起回国。

As it was known, on January 23rd it was imposed a draconian, but necessary, lockdown to Wuhan. In the follow days I was contacted by the embassy of my country, informing me that a flight it was under preparation to remove the Portuguese that were in Hubei. On February 2nd, the rescue flight it was done, but I didn’t joint my compatriots.

DAYS IN WUHAN

Mr. Pedrosa发给公司同事在汉葡萄牙人包机撤离回国的机场照片，那位同事正要祝福“回家一路平安”，却收到他这样的回复：

我选择留在武汉。

I took the decision of staying in Wuhan.

“

我不会离开，也不能抛弃我的中国同事和朋友们。

中国敞开胸怀欢迎我们的到来——所以我不能在逆境艰难时背弃她。诚然，前面的道路是可怕的，但我从不怀疑这个国家和人民终将战胜这个可怕的敌人。

我也确信，有了同事们做坚强后盾，我便没有任何后顾之忧。

I was not able to leave and abandon my Chinese co-workers/friends.

China received with open arms – I couldn’t turn back on him in face of an adversity. Admittedly, what was ahead was scary, but I never any doubt that the country and the Chinese would overcome the terrible enemy.

I was also sure that I could count on with the full support of my great co-workers.

DAYS IN WUHAN

Mr. Pedrosa虽独自一人在武汉生活，但在疫情期间他并不是孤立无援，当地社区服务和后勤保障确保供应小区居民每日生活的必需品，所在小区为各家各户发放爱心菜的暖心一幕被Mr. Pedrosa记录了下来。Mr. Pedrosa每天还通过微信和公司同事保持联系，了解当前疫情防控最新进展、交流居家健身妙招、分享自制的中式葡萄牙菜。Mr. Pedrosa为让同事放心发来自拍，尽管戴着口罩，但不难看出口罩之下洋溢着的是对武汉充满信心的笑脸。而Mr.Pedrosa每次和同事聊天的结尾，大家总会心照不宣的这样结束：

Stay Safe！Stay Healthy！

当然，这么久的隔离生活并不容易。但与那些已遭受病毒侵袭的人和他们家人所承受的痛苦相比，与那些始终奋战在一线的医护人员所做出的巨大牺牲相比，这算不了什么。

武汉政府及各行各业为抗击疫情而采取的应对措施，令人叹服——武汉人民众志成城抗击病毒的画面历历在目，我将毕生难忘。

我的同事和社区志愿人员在如此艰难的隔离期间给予我的巨大帮助和关怀也将永远保存我的记忆中。

Of course, that the long quarantine wasn’t easy, but it was nothing when compared to the suffering of all ones, and their families, which were attacked by the disease as well the vast sacrifice of all the people that were in frontline hardly fighting the coronavirus.

I stay amazed with the means that were put in place to combat the epidemic - I will never forget for the rest of my life the extraordinary disposal of resources.

I will always remember with pleasure the enormous assistance and attention that was given me by my colleagues and by the volunteers of my community during the long quarantine.

Thanks to the high standards and strict management of German companies, HOPPECKE Wuhan were approved to be the first batch of companies re-open in March.

Due to the excellent organisation, assuring the safety and health of all workers, the factory rapidly recovered its production capacity meeting the highest quality standards.

Colleagues shown great enthusiasm and are committed to duly answer the customer needs.
